COACHELLAaaaaaa

How do I even begin to explain to you something that I cannot even explain to my self? My imagination could not even absorb the atmosphere, the universe that was Coachella, but being a writer it is my job to try.

Coachella is a vacation. You need a passport to show that you are…just love.

As soon as you enter the mile long car line for security to enter the camp grounds, thats it, you have been taken away from the U.S and entered hippie town. Its like a big giant sleep-over with 1000 people that love you and are on your level, take that any way you wish. Then you enter Coachella. vast big open field with 5 tents, a do lab where they constantly spray water on you, and light figures, lazers, light shows, beams, larger than life vibe of 'this is the best place on earth.' You dance your mind off during the days and nights. Walking around you cant help but close your eyes because the beats are playing the drums on the inside of your skin, on your nerves and a smile just comes and the swaying begins. And the best part is everyone is the same!

It is hippie town, free love life, and one hell of an amazing, amazing experience. Coachella was made for your eyes and mind to succumb to your imagination being taken by ecstasy and the imagination of Coachella and far off worlds. It took me 4 days to come back to earth and I’m still feeling it.

Nobody can describe it and it is not for everyone. But if you long to live in a time reminiscent of the 60’s and 70’s then Coachella is the time machine and magician that you have always wanted. i came with 3 girl friends of mine, but like i said its a town of love, i left with a portrait of myself by Nick from Australia, visitors from Canada came to Arizona afterwards, i spent time with some of my best buddies that i havent seen in months, and spent time with best buddies that i met there.

Its hotter that hot in Indio, California so not only did we always pour water on top of our heads, not only did we walk around in just bathing suits, but there was a giant slip'n'slide one of the mornings! everyone is rooting for you and clapping and laughing and hugging and spraying more water on you, which you always want.

the following is for the imaginative thinkers

Large balloons on poles that look like crystals, constantly changing colors in the black of night. A large glass rectangle with lights flashing in order inside. A huge origami swan in the middle of the field that lit up different colors at night. The ferries wheel that overlooks Coachella like God. Beams of light playing and making shapes in the sky while you lie on the soft grass and stare up. A chick burned my tongue with a lighter and it was fantastic, didn’t burn. A guy gave a shirt to a perfect stranger because I was cold. The raves in a field or in a tent are eternal acid to your body, water being sprayed from every direction and everything you could imagine. When you ask a question the world brings you the answer and when you dream of something, it happens.

well, there goes that

I had a date with my dream guy, basically. He was of my own making. I don’t know him, never said a word to him, but something made me meet him that Friday night and that same something made me ask him to hang out. So today was the day and I was ready to soar the skies. I was shamefully super stoked about seeing him and getting to know him. The red flag should have been how easy it all was and how easily great it would have been.

But he cancelled on me last minute. Now he is a normal guy and not this figment of my imagination. It’s unlike me to be disappointed over a boy but ill admit I was. He ruined himself for me. It doesn’t matter if he calls again, if he does he will be like any other to me now. It’s too bad too.

its here!the sex and the city movie, duh

I saw a commercial for Sex and the City 2. I wasn’t aware that they were coming out with one so soon, I had heard rumors but its already coming out on May 27th. I absolutely loved that show.

When I was in middle school, then high school, I watched it every Sunday on HBO. My dad was the one who got me into it. he would watch it all the time so obviously it lured me in. I own the Sex and the City movie on DVD and cant wait to see the second one. I’m sex and the city all the way.

Mini coachella on friday night

Last night Coachella came to Tucson for a half hour. Last night I stumbled upon a house party that happened to have one hell of a DJ under its roof. The DJ was a 20-year-old kid with grey pants and brown hair, a MAC and a red cup. All of a sudden an explosion of music came out of the kitchen and a dance party broke out. Upon hearing the words DJ I prepared myself for harsh electric sounds and a techno beat but my hip-hop loving heart was surprised. He brought out the best of his songs, the melodies of hip hop, the flow, the lyrics and the energy remixed with soft accompaniments of rhythm and song. DJSquints gave us a mixture of swaying hips and bopping heads, rapping up and down hands with 2 step feet. The lights were off and the backlights were on, transforming his small college living area into a v.i.p arena and a highlight of my week, possibly longer than that.

Not only did everyone at that party dance their asses off but the DJ was rockin out too, seeing him enjoy what he does really lets all the party people have more fun. Its like we are partying with the DJ, something that I would very much have liked to do after the show if the party wasn’t broken up at midnight by the cops red tagging the house.

His name is Eric Vogt. He is a guy that I could not help but hug after his set. A 20 year old guy from the UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA whoI was one of the winners of the Energy FACTory’s SweatShop Mixer contest and will be playing 30 minutes of mashups on Sunday @ 4:20 at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. He performs around Tucson at house parties. Check him out at
